Amidst tight schedule, H.E Mkapa and his Spouse Anna Mkapa visited three of our museums; the Campaign Against Genocide Museum in Kigali, the King’s Palace and Ethnographic Museums both located in Southern province. He was welcomed by the Director General and museum staff who offered him guided tours in the three museums respectively.
Having been a mediator during the PEACE-AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE FORMER GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA AND THE RWANDESE PATRIOTIC FRONT in 1993, he was invited in the country as one of the key notable speakers to mark and bless the occasion.
The visit showcased to the President, Rwanda’s culture, social life, history and development progress after 24 years of the peace agreement he mediated. H.E Mkapa and spouse were amazed by this particular well preserved history by Rwanda museums.
H.E Mkapa commended and called upon the youth to vigilantly visit and know the past history if they are to shape and determine a better future. He congratulated Rwanda for its contribution towards the renaissance of Africa from the past to today.
