The visit started at the Natural History Museum, also known as Kandt House, at exactly 3:30 pm and they were welcomed by the Museums' Director of Research and Publications Unit who on behalf of the Director General expressed the great honor the entire Institute had to host this delegation. The Director gave a general overview of the Museum and its collections as well as giving a special tour in the museum.
The delegation representative, Honorable Sheikh Abdul Karim Harerimana gave a vote of thanks to the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda for the great achievement witnessed at the first sight. He further stated that as the delegation in charge of Culture, they pledge to work so closely more than ever before with the Museums, to let the public know the value of their heritage and museums. “The aim of our visit is not only to learn about Rwandan heritage, but it is also our responsibility to promote activities related to it.” He said
The delegation headed by Honorable Commissioner Sheikh Abdul Karim Harerimana toured the galleries discovering deeply the natural history attached to the permanent exhibitions in Kandt house. Museum’s guests were so impressed especially with the outstanding live - reptile exhibition that climaxed the tour.
The members of this commission proceeded to the Presidential Palace Museum, that served as a home for the former Presidents Juvenal Habyarimana and Pasteur Bizimungu from 1970s to 2000. The tour was facilitated by the Museum's Branch Manager in the company of Director General who made it worth visiting over and over again.
The general view of Rwanda Patriotic Front members of the commission in charge of Sports and Culture was that, this museum envisages a history that is worth discovering, especially to the youths who need to understand the history of their nation, learn from it, cherish it and aim to be tomorrow's great leaders.
The current temporally exhibition in the former Presidential living room about the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi leaves one with a deeper admiration of the level at which Rwanda has reached. It takes you through a journey of darkness to when Rwanda beholds the light rays flashing from a distance like a morning star, giving Rwandans hope for a second opportunity to live together, united and reconciled.
Members of the commission were so impressed and applauded the Museums' Director General and the entire staff for the great efforts put in preserving this history and once again pledged to work so hard in advocating for the Museums because among their responsibilities is to promote culture. They were left yearning for more because to them, the tour was interesting beyond expectation.
According to Hon' Sheikh Abdul Karim Harerimana, there is need for this delegation to visit again and have a deeper feel of what they had just had a hint about. To him it was just an overview because of the limited time. He added that they can’t promote what they themselves don't fully understand; that's why they should come back.
