The Institute of National Museums of Rwanda (INMR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) in a ceremony which took place on 25/1/2018 at the Ethnographic Museum in Huye district. This MoU aims at the distribution of the book on the History of Rwanda.
The 800-page book is a result of NURC’s research aligned to one of its core mandate of carrying out research, organizing debates, disseminating ideas and making publications relating to peace, national unity and reconciliation.
With the book titled “History of Rwanda: from the beginning to the end of the twentieth century”, NURC wants the public to have un stained national history that corrects the distortions of the past, that enables students to discover, to live and enjoy the tradition of Rwanda’s past civilization, and that does not hide facts or take sides.
At the event, Amb. Robert Masozera the Director General said: “it is a good initiative, as this book brings to view the history of Rwanda based on research and facts. Having it in the museums’ gift shops and library goes in the line with our mandate of history and culture preservation, conservation and making its publication through exhibitions, research, referencing, and make them available for everyone.”
This book: “History of Rwanda: from the beginning to the end of the twentieth century” that is in 3 languages; English, French and Kinyarwanda, costs 10,000rwf each. This amount is to basically enable the reproduction of more copies.
